| Teaching Methodology |
| |
At DBS, the faculty is encouraged to try a variety of teaching
methods that provide a comprehensive as well as flexible
approach to management development. These methods include
group work, invention of selected issues in depth through
projects, case discussion, role plays and other attractive
simulation exercises. DBS places great emphasis on the case
method as an analytical tool as it helps the student to confront and
diagnose specific management issues and suggest reasonable
plans of action. Through constant exposure to cases, the students
learn to differentiate one situation from another and to appreciate
the uniqueness of a given situation. Under faculty guidance,
students get leads for case preparation and assist in the collection
of raw information as well as ready case-material from Indian
industry. An integral part of the programme is presentation, oral
and written, by students on cases and projects. These have also
helped sharpen their communication skills.
Corporate games, covering all the functional areas of
management have been designed and run successfully at DBS.
These serve to highlight the value of an “experimental approach”
in understanding the complexities of business problems and the
need for a balanced, inter-functional approach in seeking
solutions. |
