DBS Global University Hosts Grand Finale of 14th National Biz Quiz 2025

DBS Global University brought its campus to life with the thrilling finale of the 14th National Biz Quiz 2025. This year’s edition drew students from more than 40 top schools across Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. With over 150 schools participating in the earlier rounds and 500 students making it to the advanced stages, the competition stood out for its scale and intensity.

The grand finale delivered sharp thinking, fast decisions, and impressive teamwork. After a gripping contest, DPS Haridwar claimed the top spot.

St. Joseph Convent School, Kotdwar, secured second place, followed by The Asian School, Dehradun, in third. Contestants came from a wide range of academic streams, which turned the quiz into a vibrant mix of perspectives and ideas. It encouraged students to think beyond textbooks and strengthened skills like reasoning, strategy, and presence of mind.

The event drew strong support from the university’s leadership. President Mr Mohit Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sanjay Jasola, PVC Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, PVC Dr Manish Prateek, Registrar Dr Rohit Rastogi, and several faculty members attended the finale. The program moved smoothly under the guidance of quiz master Associate Dean Dr Navjyoti Singh Negi, who kept the audience engaged throughout with his energy and enthusiasm.

DGU Organises Guest Lecture on Strategic Inventory Management for Bakery Sector

The guest lecture on Strategic Inventory Management Practices for Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Product Freshness in the Bakery Sector was organised to provide students with practical industry insights into modern supply chain approaches within the food and bakery industry. The session aligned with the university’s commitment to promoting experiential learning, professional exposure, and application-based academic understanding. Given the dynamic nature of perishable goods management, the event aimed to bridge theoretical principles of inventory control with real-world bakery operations.

The speaker, Mr. Varun Gulati, is the Owner and Executive Chef of Nany’s Bakery, an established and reputable name in Dehradun’s bakery industry. His vast experience in culinary entrepreneurship and day-to-day operational decision-making made the session particularly valuable for students pursuing management, entrepreneurship, and hospitality-oriented programmes.

Objectives of the Session

  • The central objectives of the guest lecture were as follows:
  • To familiarise students with the principles of strategic inventory management applicable specifically to bakery operations.
  • To highlight methods for maintaining product freshness, especially in environments dealing with high perishability.

Hackathon 3.0 Concludes with a Powerful Display of Innovation and Cyber Awareness

Hackathon 3.0 wrapped up with an inspiring finale, bringing together more than a thousand young innovators, developers, and problem-solvers from across India. After multiple rounds of screening, 15 exceptional teams earned their place in the national finals, where they presented solutions tackling real cybersecurity challenges. This flagship initiative of the Uttarakhand Police, led by IG Dr Nilesh Anand Bharne, aims to empower the next generation with hands-on exposure to cyber awareness and defence. DBS Global University, under Vice-Chancellor Dr Sanjay Jasola, provided academic support, mentorship, and a platform where ideas could transform into practical solutions.

The grand finale was graced by DGP Shri Deepam Seth as the Chief Guest. In his address, he encouraged participants to keep pushing boundaries in the field of cyber safety. Mr Mohit Aggarwal, President, DBS Global University, also joined the event, applauding the creativity and discipline shown by the finalists. The top three teams were awarded for their impactful cyber-defence projects that stood out for their innovation, feasibility, and social relevance. Their work reflected the spirit of Hackathon 3.0, using technology with purpose and addressing threats that matter to today’s digital world. Industry Visit to Patanjali Food and Herbal Park

Students from the Agri Business Management program visited Patanjali Food and Herbal Park in Haridwar as part of their industry exposure. The visit introduced them to large-scale food and herbal processing and showed how traditional knowledge blends with modern production practices. They learned how biopesticides and biofertilisers are developed and understood their growing role in sustainable farming. The team also spent time with Patanjali’s leadership, who spoke about ongoing R&D efforts, quality control systems, supply chain planning, and the rapid rise of the FMCG sector.

The visit helped students connect their coursework with real operations on the ground. Experiences like these build confidence, broaden perspective, and prepare them to step into the agribusiness world with a stronger practical understanding. By the end of the visit, students walk away with more confidence. They have seen the scale, the systems, and the pace of the industry. When they step into internships or jobs, they won’t feel like newcomers trying to guess how things work. They will already have a practical sense of operations, which gives them an advantage and prepares them to make smarter decisions early in their careers.

Uttarakhand Bird Count 2025: Exploring the Wild Around Dehradun

DBS Global University recently hosted the Uttarakhand Bird Count 2025, bringing together students, faculty, naturalists, and local birding enthusiasts for an early morning exploration of the region’s wildlife. The areas surrounding the campus turned into a lively field station as participants identified bird calls, spotted rare species, and learned about the unique ecosystems that thrive across Dehradun.

The activity helped students understand how biodiversity shapes the environment they live in. It provided a practical perspective on conservation, field documentation, and responsible observation. For many, it was their first experience with field guides and birding apps while working alongside experts. Events like this reinforce the university’s commitment to sustainability and inspire students to remain curious about the natural world. Students of Doon School of Law recently participated in an enriching interaction session with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Dr D.Y. Chandrachud. The session offered these budding lawyers a rare chance to step into the world of the judiciary and understand the values that shape India’s legal system at the highest level. The Chief Justice spoke about how the practice of law is evolving with technology, why empathy must remain at the heart of justice, and how young legal minds can bring meaningful change to society.

Students asked questions about judicial careers, legal ethics, and the responsibilities that come with becoming a future lawyer. The atmosphere was full of curiosity and excitement. Many students walked out feeling clearer about their purpose and more inspired to pursue law with integrity and courage. One of the participants shared, “Meeting the Chief Justice was something I never imagined happening so early in my journey. Hearing him speak about empathy and responsibility made me see the profession in a whole new light. Session with Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt Ji, the Pioneer of the Chipko Movement

DBS Global University had the profound honour of welcoming Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt Ji, one of India’s most respected environmentalists, social reformers, and a Padma Bhushan awardee, for an enlightening session on campus.

A pioneer of the historic Chipko Movement, Shri Bhatt Ji has dedicated his life to protecting the Himalayan forests and promoting sustainable living rooted in community participation. His work has inspired generations to see environmental conservation not just as a responsibility but as a collective movement of care and conscience.

During the session, Shri Bhatt Ji spoke about the early days of the Chipko Movement, the power of grassroots activism, and how small acts of courage can create waves of lasting change.

He emphasised the importance of reconnecting with nature, building stronger communities, and redefining development in ways that respect both people and the planet. Students and faculty were deeply moved by his humility, conviction, and stories of resilience that shaped one of India’s most iconic environmental movements. Led by Mr Arvind Dutta, CEO of Marigold Wealth Management, the session broke down the complexities of the stock market into clear, practical concepts. Mr Dutta explained how stock prices move, what influences investor sentiment, and how beginners can identify fundamentally strong companies. He guided students through the basics of reading financial statements, evaluating business models, and understanding risk–return trade-offs before investing.

The discussion also highlighted how market trends reflect economic shifts, why diversification matters in portfolio building, and how long-term investing often outperforms short-term speculation. Mr. Dutta encouraged students to follow credible financial news sources, use virtual trading platforms for practice, and develop a habit of saving and investing early. Through Your Lens – State-Level Photography Exhibition at DBS Global University

DBS Global University proudly hosted “Through Your Lens”, a State-Level Photography Exhibition and Competition marking 25 years of Uttarakhand’s formation. The event was organised in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand, as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration Series dedicated to the state’s Foundation Day.

The exhibition served as the inaugural event in the celebration series, bringing together over 40 universities and colleges and featuring the work of more than 80 student photographers from across Uttarakhand. Each participant showcased their creative perspective on the state’s rich heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and dynamic progress over the past 25 years.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Devendra Bhasin, Vice Chairman, Higher Education Upgradation Committee, Government of Uttarakhand, as the Chief Guest. The event also witnessed the presence of Dr. Ranjit Sinha (Chief Secretary, Higher Education), Shri Vyomkesh Dubey (Deputy Secretary, Higher Education Department), Shri Deepak Pandey (Assistant Director, Higher Education), and Mr. Mohit Agarwal (President, DBS Global University).

DBS Global University, in collaboration with Innoventures and Young Indians, organised an expert session to address two of the most pressing issues faced by today’s youth, substance abuse and mental health challenges. The session was led by Dr Mukul Sharma, Clinical Psychologist, who shared deep insights into the psychological and social factors contributing to these concerns. DBS Global University organized a three-day Workshop on HR Statutory Compliances (PF & ESI) on Government Portals, designed to equip students with practical knowledge of statutory processes that are vital in the HR domain.

The workshop was designed to redefine how our students perceive and practice sales. Moving beyond traditional selling methods, participants were introduced to Sales 5.0, a dynamic blend of strategy, empathy, innovation, and technology. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and real-world role plays, students learned how to identify client needs, build authentic relationships, and co-create solutions that deliver value.

On the occasion of World Pharmacist Day 2025, the School of Pharmacy & Research at DBS Global University organised a series of impactful activities under the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist.” The celebration began with a special address by Dr Pratap Singh, CMS, State Mental Institute, Selakui, who spoke about the rising challenges of drug abuse, its harmful impact on youth, and the importance of staying committed to health and career goals.

Students actively participated by showcasing their knowledge and creativity through a drug awareness exhibition, emphasising prevention, education, and responsible choices. The event also featured a Medical Checkup Camp, offering screenings for blood pressure, sugar levels, BMI, and haemoglobin, benefiting over 100 participants, including faculty, staff, and students.
