DBS Organizes HR Conclave

Doon Business School (DBS) hosted the most thought provoking gathering of the Human Resource Professionals to discuss the challenges and the evolving role of HR as a function. The theme was very important from an employer –Employee relationship perspective in today’s dynamic market conditions. The HR Conclave brought together the CXO’s, Chief Human Resource Officers , H R thinkers , staffing Managers, CEO Coaches – of Private and Public organizations to identify problems and solutions.

DBS Student Tops University

20 December, 2018

Rashmi Prabha, Student of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) at Doon Business School, Dehradun has stood first in the Overall Order of Merit, declared recently by HNB Garhwal- Central University. She was facilitated at the grand Convocation ceremony where she received her Gold Medal and the citation from the Honorable Governor of Uttarakhand.

DBS Bags Second Spot at AIMA Event

23 November, 2018

Sukanya Paul and Shreya Bhattacharya, students of PGDM Second Trimester participated in the 15th National Competition for Young India hosted by All India Management Association (AIMA) and secured the second position in the country in the Grand Finale of the event.

Out of a total of 80 teams, 9 teams were shortlisted for the finals; 3 teams each from the North, West, East and South Zones. The Business Plan by the DBS Students on Hydroponics won accolades from the Jury for its scope, relevance and attention to detail and was adjudged second in the country. Christ University, Bangalore was ranked first while the team from Xavier’s grabbed the third spot.

Participants were awarded with Rs. 20,000 in cash alongwith certificates, medals and trophies.

Halloween Festivities on Campus

From selecting the perfect pumpkin at the patch to sketching out a spooky design to refreshments, music and crafts, and the Halloween themed Ramp Walk, the Halloween celebrations at Doon Business School, were the highlight of the week. Students and faculty could be seen enjoying themselves to the fullest at the Spooky event. We leave you with some pictures.

Dandiya Night at DBS

13 October, 2018

Ushering in the festive spirit of Navratri, Doon Business School organized the most awaited Dandiya Night. Students, faculty and staff were seen enjoying the event, as they performed Dandiya Raas, the traditional folk dance of Gujarat and Rajasthan. As soon as the event began, audiences were thrilled to see DJ Harihar on the floor. Traditional Dandiya music alongwith some peppy and popular Bollywood numbers kept the audience glued to the dance floor all through the evening.

Adding to the glitter of the event were the event dance competitions and ramp walk where Ankita Shrivastava and Ayush Negi from BJMC-1 sem won the prize for the best Jodi and Sagar Singh (PGDM-Global) and Muskan Kathuria were adjudged the best attired couple. This Dandiya Night saw the colours and electric mix of music that will make its revelers remember the celebration for years to come.

DBS Hosts UTU Badminton Tournament

11 October, 2018

The two day long Uttarakhand Technical University Badminton Tournament hosted by Doon Business School ended with Bipin Tripathi Kumaol Institute of Technology winning the Women’s singles title and College of Engineering, Roorkee wining the Men’s Team event. The Women’s Team event was won by Bhumi Institute of Technology, Dehradun. The winners of the tournament were awarded trophies and certificates of participation.

At the end of the tournament, Mr. Mohit Aggarwal, Chairman, DBS Group, in his address to the athletes emphasized on the importance of sports in the building of one’s mental and physical character.

In-Company Training Program, on "Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal skills" - Be a Champion in Life

Dr. Vasudha Sharma and Prof. Pushpa Kataria, senior faculty members of HR/OB Domain areas at Doon Business School conducted one and half days In-Company Training Program, titled "Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal skills" - Be a Champion in Life !!!. The program was especially designed for Senior Level functionaries of Tupperware India Pvt. Ltd.

The program was held on two days. First, a full day training session was held on 11th August, 2017. Activities on the first day of the training program included ESAP and Interpersonal skills assessment, followed by Feedback and Review session. Next, a follow up session was held on 7 October, 2017. Apart from the Head- HR of the company, the program was attended by 20 Senior Level executives/ managers of the company.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Sam Hines

27 October, 2017

Mr. Sam Hines, Fulbright Scholar from Missoula, MT, United States, conducted a Guest Lecture at the Institute. The topic of his lecture was "Real Time Simulation to Professional Communication". During the lecture students also participated in MAFIA, an English Speaking Game. Students thoroughly enjoyed US Scholar’s Guest Talk and learnt valuable lessons on Communication Skills.

Mr. Hines Graduated from the University of Montana, USA with focus on English Education and later developed a passion for alternative education.

Dubai Trip

21- 27 October, 2017

Students were taken on a trip to Dubai from 21-27 October. Accompanied by 2 faculty members, students first visited Universities in Dubai, namely SP Jain-Dubai campus, MIT, Wollongong Australia (Dubai campus), Middlesex Dubai and were introduced to the teaching and learning methodologies adopted at these Universities.

The main attraction however remained the recreational activities. Students enjoyed the Desert Safari- a must do experience in Dubai. Further heightening the experience of the students were the Barbeque Dinner and Belly Dance. The tour of Dubai Creek and the Cruise Dinner were a huge hit among the students, offering them an authentic royal experience. Students were also seen enjoying themselves the most during the guided City Tour, and the visit to Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and Gold Souk.

26 & 27 September, 2017

A 2 days Guest Lecture was organized for the students of MBA-III semester and BBA-V semester. Delivered by Mr. Rajeev Saxena, Director HRD and Productivity, the lecture aimed at enhancing understanding of Labour Laws among students, and also involved exposure to EPF and ESIC Portals.

Mr. Saxena has worked as an Advocate in the Madhya Pradesh High Court and has also served as Senior Manager-HR in Thapar Industries, Yamunanager. He is currently a consultant to many organizations in NCR and imparts traiing in HR and Legal Aspects of Business.

Mr. Rajender Singh from Uttrakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) addressed the MBA students at the Institute. Attended by MBA, III semester students of HR specialization (both Major and Minor), the lecture addressed key issues related to Performance Planning with special reference to KRA and KPA.

Trip to Nainital

08 - 11 April, 2017

Doon Business School organized a trip for the students of MBA to Nainital- the queen of the hills. The purpose of the trip was to explore and learn beyond the confines of the classroom, visit prominent industries in the area and beat the summer heat. Held from the 8th to 11th April, mesmerizing view and lovely weather greeted the students on the first day, which was spent entirely in sightseeing.

Over the next two days, students got on to some serious business, as the team moved to Rudrapur where industrial visits were scheduled at TATA Motors and PARLE. Here students learnt about the Production functions, HR roles and responsibilities and also about the Departmentalization and functional hierarchies in the two organizations.
