BA (Fine Arts) programme allows you the time and space to experiment, to fully develop ambitious ideas, to deepen your knowledge of art history and contemporary art, and to undertake a period of study at DBS. The programme enables students to understand the creative impulse, while our courses have been designed to equip students with skills in drawing, painting & design. The main objective of the course is to provide a wide exposure to both Art history and studio-based practical. This course helps students for the design industry and offers a balance between traditional art and the creative development of original ideas. Students are supported through our Life Work Art programme, with opportunities to exhibit your work and undertake live projects and placements that will help you gain the professional skills you need to thrive in the contemporary art world.

Duration: 3 years, Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 50% marks.

Admission is done on the basis of merit of 10+2 marks.
Course Contents
Our Fine Art course consists of an integrated learning experience of visual art practice and critical studies, with an emphasis on studio practice. Studio practice comprises a range of contemporary art forms supported by technical facilities, studios and staff expertise. These include drawing, painting, print-making, performance, installation, 3D, video, digital and lens-based work. During the course you may work in any media that's appropriate to the development of your studies.

The course aims to build up the individual visual intelligence you fetch with you to the DBS and to develop your critical awareness and understanding of fine art and its contexts; and provide the intellectual and practical resources to enable you to realise your creative potential as a professional artist. Most Fine Art graduates become professional artists but you will leave DBS with a range of skills to branch out into a variety of careers. You will have built up practical, transferable and academic skills and these, alongside any experience you may have gained outside your degree, will widen your career options.
